Data Engineer (SQL Server DBA)
The Data Engineer (SQL Server DBA) supports the Metropolitan Council's mission by assisting in the development, maintenance, and documentation of data solutions that power essential public services. This role focuses on SQL Server database administration demonstrating core data engineering skills, supporting multiple SQL Server databases, supporting more junior engineers, and contributing to reliable and secure data workflows. The candidate must have experience writing and tuning complex SQL and stored procedures, experience with security best practices, patching, failover events, backups and disaster recovery, and version upgrades.
Level of Education:
- High school diploma/GED + 7 years experience
- Associate degree + 5 years experience
- Bachelor's + 3 years of experience
- Masters + 2 years of experience
Years of experience:
- SQL - Education in or 2+ years of experience
- Python - Education in or 1+ years of experience
- Relational Databases - Education in or 2+ years of experience
- Analytics Platforms - Education in or 2+ years of experience
- Source Control - Education in or 1+ years of experience
- Work Environment - Working independently and/or in a team environment may be required for some engagements. Hybrid telework/office setting work environment.
