Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Clinic, Ambulatory Care, Urgent Care Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Varies across days and hours, Urgent Care hours 8 AM - 8 PM Hours per Shift: 36 guaranteed Experience: Minimum of 2 years of urgent care experience License: Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Must-Have: Active Alaska license, urgent care experience within the last 2 years, proof of flu vaccine required Description: This position functions within the Urgent Care Department. The role assists patients and medical staff within the ambulatory care setting. Responsibilities include the overall operation of the clinic. Maintaining skill sets, annual competencies, and certifications is essential. Participation in in-services and educational programs within the clinic is required. Completion of all mandatory training is necessary. Attendance at staff meetings is expected. Adherence to infection control policies and procedures is critical. Maintaining a clean and safe working environment is imperative. This includes adequate supplies and upkeep of unit and equipment. Reporting any defective or missing equipment and safety hazards is required. Unresolved problems with patients, coworkers, or visitors should be referred to management for resolution. Employee concerns should be addressed consistent with Human Resources policies. Providing clinical services is a key responsibility. This involves working with providers, clinic staff, and management. Ensuring excellent quality of care and services is crucial. Efficient resource utilization and compliance with standards is required. Providing leadership and direction to clinic staff ensures efficient operations. This includes management of the front desk and patient care for all patients. Maintaining medication inventory and supplies not on the warehouse system is necessary. Quality control checks should be performed on Point of Care tests. Documentation of all care and services provided must be clear and timely. Assisting providers and other staff while anticipating their needs is important. Effective communication with other departments is necessary to support patients and clinic staff. Knowledge of the nursing process and the ability to apply it in the working environment is essential. Skills in assessments, anticipation of needs, and specimen collection are required. Ability to use medical equipment and computers is necessary. Effective oral and written communication skills are expected. The role requires multitasking and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Being a team player and willingness to teach when appropriate is important. Problem-solving and critical thinking skills are necessary for maintaining good working relations. Willingness to ask for help when facing new or challenging situations is required. Physical demands include regular talking and hearing. Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and using hands are required. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be necessary. The ability to lift and/or move 50 lbs is a requirement. Holiday coverage is required.
