Make a difference every day as a Special Education Teacher working full-time with high school students for the remainder of the school year. This contract position offers you the chance to support an inclusive and dynamic educational community, dedicated to fostering success for all learners. You'll have the opportunity to focus your expertise at just one school, providing individualized instruction and designing learning strategies that help students reach their full potential.
Your role will center on supporting a diverse caseload of high school-aged students, where you'll develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). You'll collaborate with fellow educators, support staff, and families to create engaging, effective classroom experiences tailored to a variety of learning needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Connecticut Special Education Teacher license, qualified for high school grades
- Proven experience in Special Education, particularly at the high school level
- Strong understanding of IEP development, monitoring, and compliance requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, caregivers, and colleagues
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and positive classroom environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement specialized instruction for high school students with diverse learning needs
- Maintain and track IEP goals, documenting students' progress
- Modify curriculum and adapt instructional techniques to best serve student strengths and needs
- Engage in regular collaboration with teachers, administration, and families
- Provide ongoing support, advocacy, and encouragement to students throughout the school year
