SAP QA Lead

The SAP QA Lead is responsible for driving end-to-end quality assurance across SAP Financial Services modules, including FS-CD, FS-RI, SAP Business Partner (BP), Workflow, and FI-GL. This role provides QA leadership for a blended onshore/offshore team while actively contributing hands-on to testing and automation activities.

The ideal candidate brings deep SAP QA expertise, strong P&C insurance domain knowledge, and a proven ability to translate business requirements into risk-based, automation-driven QA strategies. The role partners closely with business stakeholders, SAP functional teams, and integration teams (including Guidewire) to ensure high-quality, scalable, and reliable SAP solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and enforce QA standards, best practices, and governance to ensure high-quality SAP deliverables.
• Proactively prevent production defects through rigorous test planning and execution.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a geographically distributed onshore/offshore QA team.
• Drive accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the QA organization.
• Identify skill gaps and support team development through training and mentoring.
• Design and execute a scalable SAP test automation roadmap using TOSCA.
• Expand automation coverage while maintaining script stability and reliability.
• Develop a strong understanding of end-to-end insurance business processes.
• Ensure comprehensive testing across SAP modules and upstream/downstream integrations, including Guidewire and other policy/claims systems.
• Validate BAPI/RFC-based integrations and data flows across systems.
• Create, review, and maintain detailed test plans, scenarios, and test cases.
• Review team-authored test assets to ensure alignment with business and functional requirements.
• Execute manual and automated tests and analyze results to ensure release readiness.
• Identify, log, track, and manage defects through resolution in collaboration with development teams.
• Perform root cause analysis and recommend preventive process improvements.
• Produce thorough test documentation, including scenarios, execution evidence, and results.
• Present testing outcomes to UAT stakeholders to reduce redundant testing efforts.
• Support UAT execution and defect triage as needed.
• Define and track QA KPIs such as defect density, test coverage, automation progress, and release quality.
• Provide regular status reports to stakeholders, including monthly team and individual metrics.
• Conduct risk assessments and communicate mitigation plans proactively.
• Coordinate with SAP BASIS and release teams using SAP ChaRM for deployments.
• Continuously improve QA processes, tools, and methodologies.
• Stay current with emerging trends in SAP testing and automation.

Technical Qualifications

• 10+ years of SAP QA Lead or Manager experience in FS-CD, FS-RI, SAP BP, Workflow, and FI-GL.
• Strong hands-on experience with SAP TOSCA Automation Tool and SAP Solution Manager (SolMan).
• Ability to independently create, maintain, analyze, and fix test scripts.
• Experience with SAP integrations using BAPI/RFC and upstream systems such as Guidewire.
• Hands-on experience with SAP application maintenance, enhancements, and production support.
• Experience using SAP ChaRM for release management and coordination with BASIS teams.
• Strong understanding of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).

Domain Experience

• Minimum 2+ years of Business Analyst (BA) and/or QA experience in the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance domain.
• Knowledge of insurance and/or reinsurance processes is highly preferred.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
