The mission of the Metropolitan Improvement District (MID) Program is to assist in creating a safe and welcoming environment to all who frequent the Downtown Seattle MID. This includes tourists, employees, residents, and organizations that serve the downtown community and the vulnerable street population. The Supervisor, Community Safety & Hospitality (CSH) is responsible for the daily supervision and coordination of the CSH Ambassador team, including planning, directing, evaluating, and training the team of Ambassadors.
This positions’ work schedule is Wednesdays-Saturdays, 6:30am – 5pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily Downtown Ambassador team meetings and ensure Downtown Ambassadors are effectively deployed and have the necessary equipment and supplies to perform duties.
- Oversee and monitor employee activities to ensure performance standards and productivity levels are maintained. These patrols are provided by walking, driving a vehicle, or riding a bike.
- Provide coaching, training, and personal development plans to facilitate employee growth and effective performance.
- Assist in recruiting/hiring, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
- Review Downtown Ambassador daily logs, accident reports, etc. for accuracy and completeness.
- Make recommendations for changes in working conditions and use/type of equipment to increase the efficiency of maintenance.
- Identify and report on trends and activity within the MID, including the identification of conditions that adversely impact the downtown or those working, living, and visiting.
- Represent the MID and the Public Safety Program at special events and community meetings in a positive and highly professional manner.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with local government service providers, property managers, merchants, and members of the Downtown Seattle Association staff.
- Assist in resolving customer complaints via phone, email, or in person.
- Serve as subject matter expert in managing assigned special projects (i.e., bike programs, Narcan, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- Ability to consistently exemplify MID/DSA core values (Collaboration, Perseverance, Innovation, Excellence, and Integrity).?
- Experience coaching and mentoring individuals who may have barriers to employment.
- Self-motivated and energetic learner with the ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Windows, MS Word, Excel and Outlook
Nice to Have
- Two+ years of supervisory experience.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License
- Ability to be insured by the organization’s insurance carrier.
- Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance.
Physical Requirements
- Primary work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions and may include the handling of hazardous waste.
- Requires standing, walking, bending, and squatting 6-8 hours a day.
- Required operating leaf vacuums, blowers, and power washers, as well as ATLV’s and Green Machines.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Compensation & Benefits
The hourly pay range for this position is $25.24 - $36.59/hour DOE. Downtown Seattle Association provides a comprehensive benefits package, including:
