Job Summary

We are seeking a Control Equipment Technician (CET) to join our engineering and maintenance team. The Control Equipment Technician will report to the Engineering Service Manager and support the safe, reliable operation of production machinery and auxiliary equipment.

This position is responsible for performing electrical maintenance, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and sensors. The ideal candidate has an electrical background, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently as well as with a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform general and preventive maintenance on electrical systems and production equipment.
• Troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and service electrical systems and sensors.
• Assist engineering associates with maintenance and repair work needed to keep production machinery and auxiliary equipment operating properly.
• Respond to and repair equipment breakdowns.
• Complete assigned work from department maintenance work lists.
• Work on AC/DC motors, breakers, switches, and other electrical equipment .
• Inspect, repair, and maintain conduit and flexible electrical connections for corrosion, loose straps, broken parts, and other issues.
• Maintain and repair exhaust fans and motors.
• Troubleshoot and maintain junction boxes and electrical connections.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical components on production machinery.
• Replace and clean worn brushes as needed.
• Properly reinstall machine guards and safety equipment after completing maintenance work.
• Operate motorized equipment such as forklifts and tuggers when required.
• Follow company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Electrical background or experience in industrial/electrical maintenance.
• Minimum Associate degree or relevant work experience in a related field.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical and equipment problems using strong analytical skills.
• Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and schematics.
• Working knowledge of PC hardware, desktop operating systems, and application software.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access .
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with management, employees, vendors, and customers.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Self-motivated and dependable.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds .
• Ability to safely operate motorized equipment, including forklifts and tuggers.

Work Environment

This is a hands-on maintenance position in a production environment. The Control Equipment Technician will work around industrial machinery and electrical equipment and must follow all applicable safety procedures and requirements.

Compensation & Schedule

Pay: $23.49/hour
Shift: 2nd Shift
Location: Blacksburg, South Carolina 29702
