Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant is responsible for a variety of accounting functions including approving payables, preparing, and posting journal entries, completing monthly variance reporting, and performing month-end closing processes including balance sheet reconciliations. This position also requires effective communication with a remote General Manager and Office Manager on a routine basis. This is a full-time position and reports to the Controller. Duties & Responsibilities Reviewing and approving accounts payable transactions Own and support the month-end close process including preparing and posting adjusting entries Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations including bank reconciliations Understand and apply capitalization policies when reviewing payables Analytically review monthly financial statements and ensure compliance with GAAP Support day-to-day accounting functions at various park locations Participate in other projects and activities as assigned Education/Training/Experience 2+ year of experience or industry-specific education required Working knowledge of GAAP Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel Qualifications/Requirements Must possess strong analytical and organizational skills Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills Proficient in Excel and Google Sheets for reporting Good attitude and work ethic with strong attention to detail Results-oriented, critical thinking, sound decision-making, and time management skills Professional demeanor Strong sense of urgency Must be able to work in a fast-paced office environment Follows through on projects to successful completion, meeting deadlines Northgate provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
