Job Summary

The CAD Detailer position is responsible for creating, maintaining, and releasing accurate manufacturing documentation to support production. This position collaborates with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to develop detailed drawings, bills of materials, and fabrication documentation that enable products to be manufactured efficiently and accurately. The CAD Detailer ensures design intent is translated into clear, complete, and production-ready documentation.

Essential Functions

1. Create and maintain detailed manufacturing drawings, assemblies, and fabrication documentation using CAD software.
2. Generate flat patterns, bend data, cut lists, and other manufacturing outputs required for production.
3. Create and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs), part numbers, and associated product structures within company systems.
4. Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, manufacturability, and compliance with drafting standards.
5. Develop and maintain standard drawing templates, procedures, and documentation practices.
6. Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) by updating drawings, BOMs, and supporting documentation.
7. Collaborate with Engineers to prepare production-ready documentation for new product introductions and design updates.
8. Work closely with Manufacturing personnel to resolve drawing discrepancies and documentation issues.
9. Assist in maintaining CAD libraries, standard parts, models, and design databases.
10. Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to improve documentation quality, accuracy, and efficiency.
11. Coordinate with Supply Chain and Production teams to ensure released documentation accurately reflects manufacturing requirements.
12. Participate in product launches, sustaining engineering activities, and production support initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
• Ability to create detailed manufacturing drawings and bills of material.
• Understanding of sheet metal fabrication, machining, and assembly processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, geometric tolerances, and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with product data management (PDM) systems and engineering change processes.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of ERP systems and part/BOM maintenance.
• Familiarity with sheet metal design and fabrication methods.
• Knowledge of drafting standards, GD&T, and design documentation best practices.
