Phlebotomist

Job Summary Position: Phlebotomist 4828 (Contract with potential for permanent). Location: Pensacola, FL. Schedule: 3rd shift, midnight to 10:30 am. Projected duration: 3 months with potential for permanent placement. Benefits available. Minimum 2 years of experience required. Responsibilities Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, and related tasks. Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Properly explains the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) in a clear, courteous manner. Demonstrates technique using straight or butterfly needles. Fully understands all physicians' orders. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required by test order. Checks all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. Packages specimens for transport, stores specimen samples at required temperatures, and places them in appropriate collection containers. Accurately labels and follows specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity for transport. Understands and complies with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attends annual department trainings. Answers telephone calls and reads laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Minimum Qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. Minimum 6 months of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 2 years of experience in a phlebotomy or laboratory environment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
