Location: Hybrid onsite 2-3 days/week in Portland, OR Hours: 40/week We’re seeking an experienced Temporary Controller to provide maternity-leave coverage for a growing consumer-focused organization. This fully remote opportunity will begin with an overlap period to support a seamless transition and ensure confidence in the month-end close process. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader with strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. You’ll oversee core accounting operations, deliver accurate financial reporting, strengthen controls, and partner closely with senior leadership on financial strategy and risk management. Responsibilities Lead general accounting operations, including general ledger management and monthly close. Prepare and review account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations. Deliver timely, accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, statutory requirements, and internal policies. Oversee accounting systems, processes, and internal controls to support reliable management reporting. Identify evolving reporting requirements and implement process improvements as business needs change. Advise senior leadership on financial reporting, controls, accounting matters, and business risks. Lead year-end audit activities and collaborate with external auditors and banking partners. Partner with finance leadership on risk assessment, mitigation, and strategic financial priorities. Support, mentor, and guide accounting team members while maintaining high standards of accountability. Qualifications 8+ years of directly relevant corporate accounting and financial leadership experience. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA required. Strong expertise in financial accounting, reporting, tax, treasury, and month-end close. Demonstrated experience managing and developing accounting teams. Experience with general ledger and ERP platforms; Microsoft AX experience is strongly preferred. Background in retail, apparel, consumer goods, or a similarly complex operating environment. Excellent analytical, communication, and executive presentation skills. Proven ability to prioritize competing deadlines, drive process improvements, and exercise sound professional judgment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
