Senior Software Engineer (Firmware)Client seeks a talented and motivated Firmware Engineer to join our engineering team developing handheld network testing products. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in real-time operating systems (RTOS), microcontroller programming (STM32 or similar), and embedded UI design. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining firmware for embedded systems, enabling seamless hardware-software integration, and ensuring high reliability and performance in resource-constrained environments.Key Responsibilities:Design and implement firmware for embedded systems using C/C++ on RTOS and bare-metal environments.Develop and maintain embedded applications and drivers to support hardware subsystems.Program and debug microcontrollers (e.g., STM32) for peripheral control, power management, and real-time tasks.Implement embedded UI frameworks for handheld products with LCDs and touchscreens.Collaborate with hardware engineers to bring up new boards and ensure proper hardware-software integration.Optimize firmware for performance, memory footprint, and power consumption.Perform debugging, troubleshooting, and validation using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.Participate in system-level integration, validation, and testing across multiple NetAlly products.Create and maintain firmware specifications, test plans, and technical documentation.Qualifications Required:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.8+ years of hands-on firmware development experience.Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded development.Experience with RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS) and real-time scheduling.Experience with microcontrollers such as STM32, NXP, or Microchip, including peripheral configuration (SPI, I²C, UART, ADC, timers, DMA).Experience with embedded UI frameworks (e.g., LVGL, Qt for Embedded).Familiarity with firmware debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG/SWD).Preferred:Experience with embedded Linux development (drivers, kernel modules, system integration).Familiarity with networking protocols (Ethernet, Wi-Fi) and low-level stack implementation.Knowledge of TCP/IP stack implementation and troubleshooting in embedded systems.Experience optimizing firmware for low power and battery-powered devices.Knowledge of secure boot, OTA updates, and firmware upgrade mechanisms.Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD workflows.Knowledge of signal processing or measurement systems is a plus.Language and Interpersonal SkillsStrong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with hardware, software, and test engineers.Ability to document designs clearly and present technical information to peers and managers.Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-product environment where resourcefulness and problem ownership are key.
