Position Overview New Hope Counseling Services is actively seeking a full-time, dedicated Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) to join our compassionate team in Galveston, Texas. Work Environment This position is remote, allowing for flexibility while still engaging closely with our outpatient office dynamics. Your schedule will generally be Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with some flexibility to accommodate patient needs. Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough mental health assessments that are culturally sensitive, identifying the unique experiences and needs of each patient to inform tailored treatment plans. Implement evidence-based interventions and therapeutic techniques, which may include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness approaches, and trauma-informed care. Manage and lead individual, family, and group therapy sessions that actively address a variety of mental health concerns, such as anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. Coordinate care with psychiatrists, psychologists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure that all aspects of the patient’s mental health are comprehensively addressed. Provide crisis intervention services and emotional support during urgent mental health situations, demonstrating calmness and decisiveness under pressure. Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, available treatments, and community resources, empowering them with knowledge and support. Ensure all documentation is maintained accurately and confidentially, adhering to legal and ethical standards in mental health practice. Engage actively in team meetings, case conferences, and cultural competency training to foster a collaborative approach to therapy and community service. Stay up-to-date with the latest research, therapy techniques, and cultural considerations in mental health to continually enhance your practice. Patient Population / Client Focus You will work with a truly diverse clientele, including individuals from ethnic minorities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and various immigrant populations. Your role is critical in providing inclusive mental health care, ensuring that each patient feels understood and respected, regardless of their cultural or personal background. Qualifications A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution. A current and valid license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Texas. Profound clinical knowledge of mental health disorders and evidence-based treatment methodologies. Experience in delivering therapy services using culturally responsive and inclusive techniques. Strong crisis intervention skills, demonstrating the ability to manage challenging situations effectively. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport and therapeutic relationships with a wide range of individuals. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and various computer applications relevant to mental health practice. A commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical practice. A collaborative team player capable of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Preferred Experience Previous experience working with multicultural populations in a mental health setting. Experience with teletherapy or remote counseling practices. Background in developing community outreach programs and resources for underserved populations.
