About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years ICU experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Stroke experience - Ventilator management - Assist with intubation/extubation - Central venous line management/placement - Foley catheter management - Tube feedings via NGT or PEG - IV medication titration - Vasoactive drip management - Total care of critically ill patients - Arterial line management - External ventricular drain management Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the ICU. The unit has 20 beds with an average daily census of 16 patients. The nurse will be caring for adult surgical and medical ICU patients. Common diagnoses include STEMI, DKA, respiratory failure, stroke, sepsis, renal failure, and various surgical conditions. The nurse will manage a patient ratio of 1:2. A competency exam for EKG interpretation will be required prior to arrival. Charge nurses will have no patient assignment during the day. Support staff includes one CNA per shift and phlebotomy services for lab draws. A PICC team is available during the day, and hospitalists are on staff 24/7. Respiratory therapy services are available around the clock. Technology in the unit includes EMR software and specialized IV pumps. Floating to PCU or MedSurg units may be required, with different nurse-to-patient ratios. Weekend rotation will occur every other weekend. Some holiday work may be expected. Requests for time off will be considered but are limited. Uniform guidelines specify specific colors for scrubs and outerwear. Badges must be displayed above the waist at all times. The unit has a collaborative and supportive culture.
