Sand Creek Animal Hospital is hiring a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our seven-doctor small animal practice in Albany, New York. Enjoy no weekend shifts, emergency cases referred to a local emergency hospital, and opportunities to develop your clinical skills in a Fear Free Certified and AAFP Gold-Standard Cat Friendly Practice.
Experienced LVTs and newly licensed graduates are welcome. We provide hands-on mentorship, ongoing training, and a collaborative team environment.

• Use your technical skills to support patient care, assist our veterinarians, and help clients feel informed and confident about their pets’ treatment.
• Assist with examinations, treatments, surgery, and dental procedures
• Administer and monitor anesthesia and support postoperative recovery
• Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and sample collection
• Run in-house laboratory diagnostics and obtain digital radiographs
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
• Monitor hospitalized patients and provide compassionate nursing care
• Use safe, low-stress handling and restraint techniques
• Maintain accurate patient records and prepare prescriptions
• Educate clients on medications, treatment plans, and preventive care
• Maintain clean, organized clinical areas and support inventory management
• Follow hospital safety and controlled substance protocols

Required Skills What You BringRequired

• Active New York State Veterinary Technician license
• Compassionate, team-oriented approach to patient care
• Strong communication and client service skills
• Ability to stay organized in a busy veterinary practice
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Preferred

• Experience with anesthesia, dentistry, radiology, laboratory diagnostics, and surgical support
• Familiarity with veterinary practice management software
• New graduates and newly licensed LVTs are encouraged to apply. Technicians credentialed as RVTs or CVTs elsewhere must also hold an active New York State license for this role
