Accounting Assistant | Part-Time |$24-28/Hour | Onsite | Temp-to-Hire or Direct Hire

Job Description

An established Omaha organization is seeking a dependable Accounting Assistant to support its corporate accounting team. This part-time opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working across multiple accounting functions, preparing Excel reports, reconciling transactions, and keeping financial records accurate and organized.

You will work closely with accounting leadership and other departments to support daily transaction processing and month-end activities. Strong practical Excel skills and experience beyond a single AP or AR function are essential.

Responsibilities:

• Enter cash receipts, checks/ACH payments, recurring bills, and customer/vendor invoices into the accounting system.
• Process employee credit card expenses and verify transaction coding and supporting documentation.
• Prepare Excel reports using VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas, sorting, filtering, and consistent formatting.
• Reconcile monthly activity to year-to-date balances, investigate discrepancies, and verify report accuracy.
• Update accounts receivable reports to support collection efforts.
• Review recurring vendor payments, reconcile vendor statements, and assist with resolving discrepancies.
• Gather month-end information, enter adjustments as directed, and assist with account reconciliations.
• Maintain audit documentation and support recurring customer forms, insurance documentation, and other administrative accounting tasks.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Associate degree preferred
• Experience across multiple accounting functions, including AP/AR, cash receipts, expense processing, and reconciliations.
• Hands-on knowledge of job cost accounting, transaction coding, and accounting cycles.
• Intermediate Excel proficiency, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, SUM/SUBTOTAL formulas, sorting/filtering, basic charts, and monthly/year-to-date reconciliations.
