Maintenance Repair (Shipping & Receiving)Performs preventative and service maintenance related to building and grounds; operates vehicles and equipment as required; follows safety practices and procedures; follows codes and requirements pertaining to public facilities; performs custodial tasks as necessary; represents the Wooster City School District in a favorable image at all times. Responsible for the operation of the stockroom, maintaining records of office supplies, food, chemicals, and other items, scheduling deliveries, delivering district mail and parcels, and working with freight delivery companies. Skilled in using a computer to maintain inventories of supplies using databases and as a communication tool.High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training and/or experience in maintenance, repair, and/or custodial functions (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, etc.). Training or work experience with the operation of a stockroom including receiving and distributing preferred. A current, valid Class D Operator Driver's License and credentialed to operate board-owned vehicles. Proficiency using computers. Ability to evaluate the condition of shipments, equipment, supplies, and food products. Prior experience preparing requisitions for stock replacement. Ability to operate postage machines, tow motors, forklifts, pallet jacks, and a variety of other material handling equipment, as well as loading and unloading freight.Repairs and maintains the safe condition of HVAC systems, lighting fixtures, electrical apparatus, fixtures, wiring, refrigeration units, and similar electrical elements in the facilities owned or operated by the district in accordance with current laws and regulations. Repairs and maintains the safe condition of pipes, drains, plumbing fixtures, and waste disposal systems in the facilities owned or operated by the district in accordance with current laws and regulations. Repairs and maintains the safe condition of flooring, door frames, doors, window frames, staircases, stair treads, wall paneling, ceiling paneling, hardware, and similar structural elements in the facilities owned or operated by the district in accordance with current laws and regulations. Responsible for preventive maintenance in school facilities. Examines school buildings and grounds on a regular basis for needed repairs and maintenance. Installs and operates lighting and electrical sound equipment in auditoriums and gymnasiums for all special theatrical, athletic, and other performance events. Inspects and maintains fire alarm systems and fire extinguishers in accordance with current laws and regulations. Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase and maintains an inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and supplies. Orders materials as needed, and makes recommendations of supplies and equipment for purchase. Maintains certificates and licenses required for the performance of job functions (e.g., asbestos, water systems, boilers, etc.). Properly stores chemicals, office supplies, and other items of considerable value. Applies proper storekeeping methods to work problems, inventory management, and record keeping. Prepares necessary requisitions for stock replacement, subject to approval. Communicates via email, phone, and memos to district staff about orders, supplies, and deliveries. Picks up locked deposit bags from satellite and base schools and delivers to the bank. Delivers district mail, parcels, and supplies. Arranges warehouse items and stockroom in an orderly manner. Lifting and moving supplies, materials, equipment, etc. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance. Assists co-workers as required. Performs other tasks as may be required from time to time, including flexible schedule for such jobs as snow removal. Performs routine grounds tasks as directed. Participates in a rotating on-call schedule, as needed, to meet the needs of the district.Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissues. Occasional operation of vehicles and other equipment under inclement weather conditions. Occasional exposure to extreme heat. Occasional exposure to fumes and/or emissions. Occasional use of solvents, cleaning agents, etc., containing potentially hazardous chemicals. Occasional performance of duties requiring extension ladders or scaffolding. Occasional operation of tools and equipment. Lifting and moving supplies, materials, and equipment (e.g., furniture, ladders, scaffolding, bags of salt and fertilizer, appliances, etc.)Knowledge of plumbing, masonry, HVAC systems, laws, codes and general maintenance and repair-electrical, carpentry, regulations, safety practices and procedures. Ability to perform light to heavy physical labor over an extended period of time, lift and move 80 lbs. (e.g. bags of salt, cement, equipment, books, etc.) communicate effectively, develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, students and the general public; utilize and operate standard tools of the trade. Repair techniques and procedures; operation of hand and power tools.Employees must pass a criminal background investigation and provide a fingerprint card prior to employment.
