The Intake Specialist provides direct support to the program team and serves as the point of contact for program eligibility and the intake process. The main function of these programs is to assist homeless and at-risk veterans and their families with connecting to supportive services, including Behavioral Health Care, V.A. Medical, Employment, and Housing.FLSA Classification: Non-ExemptResponsibilitiesPerforms screenings and assessments for client eligibilityAssists clients with obtaining all necessary information need to be enrolled in programPerforms client intake process, intake packet completion, and program data entry for intakes and discharges as well as other client information as needed for program reportingConducts individual or group program orientation for clientsTracks client entry/exits electronically and enters into program databasePerforms data entry into the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) if appropriateAssists with ensuring MyCaseRecords (MCR) documentation is up to dateAssists in the production of client information and program data reports including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports using MCR data in addition to HMIS dataCoordinates with the Program Coordinator, Case Managers, and Housing/Outreach Specialists with respect to monitoring and documentation of servicesAssists in maintaining archival of client inactive filesContinuously ensures quality documentation effortProvides direct and confidential support to management and staff membersAssists in the purchasing and retrieving of necessary program supplies and office equipmentAssists with communicating program guidelines to clients as well as community partnersAssists with monthly aftercare follow-up proceduresOther duties and special projects as assignedU.S.VETS has various programs in which an Intake Specialist may be assigned to or work with to include Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) or Grant & Per Diem (GPD) Transitional Housing that may have additional program-specific duties as outlined below:For Intake Specialists working with the SSVF Program: The position may report to the SSVF Team Leader if applicable; other reports to the SSVF Coordinator.Assists with compiling fund requests, submitting for payment, distribution of payment, and tracking of Temporary Financial Assistance.QualificationsRequirementsBachelor's degree in social services field or a related field, preferredOne year of experience in social services or related field required. Employment at U.S.VETS for at least three months may substitute for one year of experienceExperience working with homeless and/or veterans preferredStrong oral, written and communication skillsStrong organizational skillsAbility to work within a teamComputer proficient in Microsoft Office and InternetDetail oriented with effective organization skillsValid driver's license is required. Must meet company insurance requirements and complete a provided driver training course
