Accountant → with training to Controller position Location: Hurst, TX — fully on-site The Opportunity Our client is a well-established, growing mechanical/HVAC and plumbing contractor in the Hurst, TX area. As part of a planned leadership transition, they are hiring an Accountant with a clear path to step into the Controller role within approximately one year. You don't need to check every box on day one. The company is looking for the right foundation — accounting fundamentals, financial reporting ability, and the professionalism to grow — and is prepared to invest in developing this person into the Controller role. What You'll Do & Bring Support day-to-day accounting: A/R, A/P, billing, job cost accounting, banking/treasury, and payroll, moving toward ownership of monthly close and financial reporting for leadership Help maintain financial controls, compliance, and reporting accuracy as you grow into the Controller function Partner with leadership on budgeting and financial planning, and eventually represent the company externally (banking, insurance, industry groups like CFMA) Financial reporting experience required ; construction industry background a strong plus A stable, progressive work history — no frequent job changes A polished, professional presence — this person will represent the company externally Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and discretion with confidential information Microsoft Office proficiency; construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 100 Contractor) a plus BS in Accounting or related field preferred, or equivalent experience Why Apply Defined, supported path from Accountant to Controller within ~1 year Direct mentorship from company leadership Stable, established company with a strong industry reputation #J-18808-Ljbffr Employbridge
