Head of School, Manville Elementary School Location: Boston, MA Job Id: 479 # of Openings: 1 Position Type: Full Time Summary of Position: The Baker Center for Children and Families (also known as Judge Baker Children’s Center) promotes the best possible mental health of children and families through the integration of research, intervention, training, and policy. The Head of School works as part of an interdisciplinary school leadership team with primary responsibility for the Elementary School (Pre‑K‑6) program at Manville School. Under the supervision of the Associate Director, this role provides important oversight, coordination, and implementation of the school’s goals through effective supervision, team facilitation, recruitment, professional development, data collection, and continuity across grade levels. Responsibilities Provide oversight, coordination, and implementation of the Elementary School program. Supervise, coach, and provide shared supervision for managers and staff. Lead managerial team for Elementary School program, including coaching and shared supervision of managers with their assigned department head. Develop effective team dynamics, internal processes, protocols and practices to grow and maintain a high‑functioning team. Partner with Admissions Coordinator to evaluate referrals, oversee processes for extended evaluations, promote the program, and meet annual census targets. Ensure appropriate professional development opportunities for Elementary School program managers and staff. Ensure compliance with all DESE regulations in partnership with the Associate Director of the Manville School and the Director of Special Education. Oversee consistent use of universal screening, progress monitoring, and data‑based decision making. Collaborate with Elementary School managers to determine classroom cohorts and other student groups. Develop and maintain an effective Elementary School schedule that is responsive to student needs, available staff resources, and best practices. Ensure full implementation of an interdisciplinary Multi‑tiered System of Support framework. Collaborate with Associate Director to develop and implement an annual Elementary School action plan. Qualifications Education: Master’s degree in special education or related field. Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience in a school setting with a similar student population. Minimum of 3 years experience in a managerial or leadership role. Training: Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Fluency with evidence‑based practices in educational, clinical, behavioral domains. Fluency with data‑based decision‑making processes. (Cover letter and a recent resume required for consideration.)
