Test Coordinator (Office Automation)

Summary

About the Position: Serves as a Testing Coordinator in a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) to ensure applicants' test scores are valid and processed in a timely manner in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) and U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command policies and procedures for the DoD Military Personnel Testing Program.

This is a permanent position.

Duties

Help

• Coordinate with schools or educational programs to sustain participation in the student testing programs.
• Interpret and provide guidance of policy relating to applicant test eligibility.
• Provide support for school officials and recruiters regarding student testing.
• Report ASVAB test results to high schools to facilitate individual and school career planning.
• Ensure all test scheduling materials are sent to schools in accordance with regulations.
• Maintain the command database of school information.
• Compile data to draft technical papers.
• Maintain office files and handling of sensitive material.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
• Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
• Frequent local travel and occasional temporary duty (TDY) business travel is required approximately 15% of the time.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-06 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Coordinating student testing with area schools and administrators; Compiling testing data utilizing spreadsheets and databases; Entering testing results into data systems to generate reports; Conducting inventory on testing materials and applicant packages. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

GS-07 Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled including: Scheduling events in coordination with multiple organizations; Promoting products and events to improve participation; Conducting periodic inventories and ordering materials/supplies; Conducts pre-test and post-test briefings; Compiling data into several automated databases/systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Management; Business Administration; Education, Marketing, or a field that is directly related to the position.

Combination of Education and Experience : A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement : Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
