Locums Emergency Medicine Physician

Overview

A healthcare facility in Englewood, FL, is seeking a flexible and experienced Emergency Medicine Physician for a locum tenens opportunity. This position requires the ability to work day, night, and weekend shifts in a dynamic and patient-focused Emergency Department. The Emergency Department handles 20,000 visits annually and has 24-hour daily physician coverage with 12-hour shifts. During surges, sepsis or stroke alerts, and difficult cases, phlebotomy services are available to support the team. The facility also provides advanced imaging services, including MRI, CT scans, X-ray, and ultrasound, to assist in patient diagnosis and care.

Responsibilities

As a Locums Emergency Medicine Physician, you will provide high-quality, timely care to patients presenting with acute medical needs. This includes evaluating, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of emergency medical conditions while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and effective treatment. You will utilize diagnostic tools such as imaging and laboratory tests to guide your clinical decisions and deliver appropriate care. Additionally, you will be responsible for accurately and promptly documenting patient care in alignment with the facility’s protocols to ensure continuity of care and compliance with established guidelines.

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM) or Family Practice/Internal Medicine with at least two years of current Emergency Medicine experience.
• Strong clinical skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Active Florida medical license and DEA certification.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications are highly preferred.
