Openings as of 06/15/2026 Full‑Time Night Custodian – 3:30 pm to 11:30 pm Odessa High School (Main), CBMS, OSES, SMECC Position Overview Under the direction of the Chief Custodian, the custodian will provide a safe, healthy, and clean building environment. Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, waxing, vacuuming, cleaning walls, ceilings, windows, furniture, lights, bathrooms, and outdoor grounds. The custodian shall enforce state regulations, district policies, and maintain the overall operation of the educational program during the night shift. Salary Range Salary range is defined in the district Salary Scales. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Night shift positions begin after 1:00 pm. This is an essential employee position. Hours are subject to change. Perform sweeping, mopping, waxing, buffing, vacuuming, cleaning walls, ceilings, windows, furniture, lights, bathrooms, and shampooing carpets. Move furniture and supplies as needed. Clean outside grounds, load and unload trucks, shovel snow and ice, cut grass and trim hedges. Open and close the building and secure the alarm system. Provide minor maintenance: replace light bulbs, painting, help clean boilers and heating equipment, maintain lawn mowers, trimmers, vacuum cleaners, and buffers. Drive vehicles to pick up equipment, supplies, parts, and mail. Assist with deliveries, unloading trucks, storing supplies, and delivering materials to classrooms, bathrooms, and other areas. Empty wastebaskets, pick up trash, and support the recycling program. Other custodial and minor maintenance duties assigned by the chief custodian, supervisor of custodians, or building and grounds supervisor. Verify that the building and equipment are secured at the beginning and end of each shift. Set up and break down chairs, tables, and equipment for meetings and functional rooms. Clear snow from entrances, walkways, and spread sand or ice‑melting chemicals. Perform grounds‑keeping duties, clear debris, and maintain the grounds. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED (preferred). Valid Class D Driver’s License with a good driving record. Knowledge of cleaning materials, methods, equipment, and procedures. Ability to perform minor maintenance tasks. Follow oral or written directions. Work cooperatively with teachers, students, administrators, co‑workers, and the public. Good physical health and strength to lift and clean. Physical Requirements The role requires regular speaking, the ability to convey instructions clearly, normal cognitive function, sustained moderate physical effort, ability to operate commercial equipment, move objects weighing 40–50 pounds, and continuous standing. Physical and Environmental Conditions Work may involve exposure to cleaning materials, equipment, and environmental hazards. Proper training and safety equipment are required to minimize risks.
