What We Want
The Office for Student Success University Advising team seeks to hire a Program Coordinator II to plan, develop, and implement programs that promote undergraduate student success and retention. This individual will work collaboratively with academic advising leadership, college/school and department advisors, and other campus stakeholders to coordinate institution-wide initiatives, including stop-out efforts, student outreach, and student success programs. Responsibilities include delivering academic advising and support services, monitoring student progress, fostering retention through mentoring and intervention, and providing guidance to students facing academic, probationary, or financial challenges. The Program Coordinator II will also be responsible for assessing and reporting on student persistence and success, analyzing retention data, utilizing advising technology tools (such as EAB Navigate360, COMPASS, and HOWDY), and preparing reports for university and college leaders. The role requires academic advising experience, a high degree of self-initiative, the ability to analyze data for retention and academic success programming, experience with educational technology platforms, and service as a mental health advocate.

Essential Duties/Tasks
Program Coordination - Coordinates the planning, development, and implementation of programs, resources, and workshops for students, advisors, and other stakeholders. Coordinates institution-wide stop out efforts and collaborates with colleges/schools and departments to identify ways to make academic programs accessible to applicants, and other services to undergraduate students. Creates, promotes, and delivers student success programs. Utilizes various reports, instructor outreach, and other campus relationships to help identify students that need to reconnect. Creates, sends, and maintains university stop out lists and outreach to students who have stopped attending Texas A&M University without degree completion. Collaborates with colleges/schools and departments on stop out efforts to promote consistent readmission policies, processes, and procedures. Develops an action plan for students for re-enrollment. Identifies and coordinates resources that will aid students in their efforts for continuing and completing a bachelor’s degree. Coordinates with colleges/schools and admissions personnel for opportunities that will assist this population. Identifies ways the institution can improve our marketing and communication efforts to readmitted student populations. Creates a communication plan and timeline for students that need to re-engage and/or apply. Assesses and reports stop-out data and findings to respective university and college/school leaders.
Data Assessment and Reporting - Works with Academic Advisors in the colleges/schools and departments to support the use of EAB Navigate 360. Interprets academic and advising policies and procedures. Provides follow-up on student caseload identified by college/school and department advisors. Determines degree requirements and student curriculum needs. Regularly communicates with and directs department and college advisors on their needs for student support and follow-up. Uses EAB Navigate 360 to identify students at risk of failure and works with department and college advisors to address needs. Serves as a resource to college and department advisors. Prepares and completes reports related to student persistence and success. Projects and monitors student stop out data. Creates and distributes communication to college and department advisors. Manages student cases as assigned to provide proper guidance and to ensure follow-up care.
Student Advising and Engagement - Devises and delivers academic advice and other student support services to current undergraduate students, their families, university faculty, staff, and administrators, resource providers, and other academic advisors as part of University Advising. Reviews degree plans, academic records, and test scores on file. Monitors student progress and degree requirements, and fosters retention of students through mentoring, monitoring of student grades, and other support programs. Executes and initiates plans to improve academic success through enhanced advising services in order to increase student retention and decrease time to graduation. Manages a caseload of stop out students and monitors their readmission progress and success; intervenes or delegates when necessary. Counsels students considering withdrawing from TAMU. Formulates and provides intervention to students with academic, probationary, and financial concerns. Maintains student appointment summaries on interactions with students in EAB Navigate 360. Uses COMPASS and HOWDY (Banner Systems) to interpret degree programs and student progress in degree programs. Generates degree evaluations and coordinates with students based on evaluations. Answers inquiries and provides information to prospective students, current students, and parents. Meets with and refers students to available resources and departments. Serves as a mental health advocate. Teaches first year experience course(s).
Administrative - Provides support to other units within the Office for Student Success. Interprets department and university rules and procedures and assists with the management of human and fiscal resources.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Four years of experience in academic advising, student development, or related work in higher education.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, Counseling, Educational Technology, Adult Education, or related field.
Recruiting or prospective student advising experience.
Experience in developing or coordinating student retention programs.
Intermediate experience with data analysis in a higher education capacity.
Demonstrated experience with EAB Navigate 360 or related predictive analytics system.
Ability to understand and speak Spanish.
Strong problem-solving skills.
High degree of self-initiative and ability to think and work independently.
Ability to analyze data for retention and academic success programming.
Knowledge of degree plans, programs and/or evaluations.
Experience with educational technology platforms and tools such as Articulate 360/Rise, Adobe Captivate/XD, Canva, and Camtasia.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications, and Google Suite.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
COMPASS/Banner and HOWDY proficiency.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Verbal and written communication skills.
