Job Title Program Coordinator I Agency Texas A&M University Department University Writing Center Proposed Minimum Salary $4,333.34 monthly Job Location College Station, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description What We Want We are looking for a Program Coordinator I to join our small writing center staff. The PC I will assist with our student programming, including running online graduate writing groups, presenting classroom workshops, serving as a coach for writing retreats, and assisting with training our 60 undergraduate and graduate peer consultants. Some direct tutoring will also be included. The ideal candidate will have writing or learning center experience as a tutor or administrator, as well as supervisory experience, and the flexibility to work well both independently and as part of a team. Other preferred qualifications include experience teaching or giving presentations, knowledge of content and /or learning management systems, and experience working with special student populations, including grad students, international students, ESL students, and/or First-Gen students. The successful candidate will enjoy working with language and with people. We offer a supportive and creative work environment with a strong emphasis on staff professional development. What You Need To Know Salary: $52,000 - $55,500/annually (Based on selected hires qualifications). Other Requirements and Factors : This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends. Qualifications Required Education and Experience: Bachelors Degree of equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years of program coordination, graduate/undergraduate coordination, or other closely related experience. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree from an accredited college or university preferably in English, Communication, Rhetoric or related field. Experience working in or running a writing or learning center. Experience developing and running educational programming. Experience teaching and/or giving presentations. Experience supervising. Tutor certification from the College Reading and Learning Association (preferably Master level). Knowledge of content management systems. Knowledge of learning management systems. Experience with media production or marketing. Experience working with special student populations including ESL students, graduate students, First-Gen students, International students, and/or students with disabilities. Experience keeping tutoring records. Experience with program assessment. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Working knowledge of office software and instructional programs. Knowledge of principles and methods for teaching and instructing individuals and groups. Skilled in utilizing various learning and active listening strategies. Ability to orally comprehend and express information and use inductive and deductive reasoning. Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff, groups of various sizes. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Essential Duties/Tasks Provides direction and supervision for a team of 5 to 8 student workers - Leads team training meetings. Conducts performance evaluations. Meets with student workers as necessary to provide individual coaching and training. Conducts observations of student workers. Reviews student worker leave requests. Attends weekly Team Leader Meetings. Serves as night and weekend supervisor as needed. Tutors - Tutors students on their writing and speaking skills when needed. Maintains records of tutoring consultations. Mentors grad students through the Dissertation, Article, and Thesis Assistance program. Serves as tutor/coach for writing retreats. Presents classroom workshops. Assists with training student workers - Assists in training writing center student workers. Presents at training meetings. Develops training materials. Assists with teaching CRLA classes as needed. Adds material to learning management system. Coordinates graduate and undergraduate programming - Works with other staff members to administer programs for graduate and undergraduate students. Assists with promoting programs. Keeps program records. Assists with program evaluation. Communicates with student participants and other stakeholders about programs. Assists with planning program budgets. Assists with general administration of the writing center - Assists with screening and interviewing student workers. Monitors the consulting schedule and fills in as needed. Assists with media team as needed. Adds material to website as needed. Attends trainings and staff meetings. Represents the UWC at conferences.
