Scientist I/II, Functional Genomics

Xaira Therapeutics seeks a Scientist I/II in functional genomics to develop and scale organoid-based model systems for CRISPR screening and genotype-phenotype discovery. The role combines hands-on experimental work with cross-functional collaboration across computational biology and AI/ML teams to advance drug discovery capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and scale organoid-based screening systems for functional genomics
- Establish and optimize organoid culture protocols across tissue types with rigorous quality control
- Drive innovation in experimental workflows and CRISPR screening methodologies
- Collaborate with computational and AI/ML teams to analyze and interpret large-scale datasets
- Independently manage multiple projects and mentor junior research staff
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Cell Biology, or related field
- 0-4 years industry or postdoctoral research experience
- Hands-on expertise developing and maintaining organoid model systems
- Experience with CRISPR-based genetic perturbation approaches in 3D systems
- Familiarity with high-throughput screening adaptation and automation methods
- Strong troubleshooting and protocol optimization abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
