Bus Companion

Application for Prospective Bus Companions in Transportation

Bus Companions to assist the bus drivers on school buses for special needs with the students. This is a temporary position at $15.00 per hour that is not eligible for insurance but is eligible for retirement benefit options.

Locations include:

• Pickens Bus Office
• Easley Bus Office
• Liberty/Daniel Bus Office

Qualifications for a bus companion include:

• This job requires patience and good communication skills.
• Must be at least 18 years old
• A 20-hour bus class is required, to exempt from this option, previous experience and/or Work Keys is required.
• Be able to pass a physical performance test in a timed manner and always follow transportation procedures.
• All applicants are subject to a SLED check of criminal history and any other checks required by law or deemed necessary by the employer.
• Proof of a clear tuberculosis test completed within the last 12 months or how to obtain a TB test for the position.
• Copies of the applicant's official birth certificate, Social Security card, and driver's license are also required.
