Property Accountant

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Property Accountant in Costa Mesa, CA. Arnel Management Company is seeking an experienced Property Accountant to oversee the accurate and timely processing and reporting of financial activities for an assigned residential property portfolio. In this role, the selected candidate will perform specialized accounting functions requiring independent judgment, partnering closely with property management teams to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and profitability. The ideal candidate brings demonstrated experience in property management or real estate accounting and a strong command of financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close processes. Job Type: Permanent Annual Salary: $62,400 to $72,800 Annually BOE Responsibilities: Perform comprehensive accounting tasks including preparing financial statements, posting payments, verifying records, reconciling accounts, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports. Prepare monthly financial packages, execute monthly closings, and record monthly journal entries for assigned properties. Audit weekly reports for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness, investigating and resolving any discrepancies identified. Produce accurate Lost Dollar Reports, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, month-end closing documents, and rent collection reports. Analyze residential property management and accounting documents for accuracy, investigate questionable entries, and apply corrective actions using independent judgment. Partner with the residential property management team to deliver timely and accurate financial data supporting decisions related to occupancy, revenues, maintenance, and profitability. Maintain effective financial controls and accounting procedures to support accurate and timely reporting across assigned properties. Complete additional accounting duties and special projects as assigned by management. Qualifications: Demonstrated professional experience in accounting within property management or real estate development. Strong proficiency in preparing financial statements, bank reconciliations, balance sheets, and profit and loss statements. Proven ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion when investigating records and resolving accounting discrepancies. Experience executing month-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries and financial packages. Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively alongside property management teams. Commitment to maintaining accurate financial records and adherence to established accounting procedures and internal controls. Ability to manage multiple assigned properties and meet reporting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Physical Requirements: Ability to remain in a stationary seated position for extended periods while performing accounting and computer-based tasks. Ability to operate standard office equipment including computers, calculators, and printers on a daily basis. Occasional movement within an office environment to access files, equipment, or attend meetings. Ability to review and interpret printed and digital financial documents with accuracy. Pay Transparency: The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $62,400 to $72,800 annually, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
