Senior Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager is a hybrid role responsible for leading core accounting operations while driving AI and technology initiatives and contributing to financial planning within the finance function. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting, overseeing operational accounting, optimizing the Vista ERP system, and supporting the company's growth objectives. This position follows a hybrid schedule: Monday through Thursday in-office, with Fridays as a remote workday. Department Finance & Accounting Location Hybrid: Mon–Thu In Office | Fri WFH Reports To: Financial Controller Employment Type: Full-Time / Exempt KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Financial Close, Reporting & Analysis (60%) Assist the Controller in managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP Prepare and/or review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules Support financial reporting and budget vs. actual variance analysis, including identification of key drivers and trends Contribute to improvements in close timelines and reporting efficiency Support KPI reporting and monitoring including revenue per field labor hour, gross margin %, overhead per field labor hour, and support cost per field labor hour Prepare and maintain monthly Work-in-Process (WIP) schedules in coordination with operations Facilitate and support monthly WIP meetings with project managers to review job performance, cost, billings, and estimated cost to complete Update WIP schedules post-review to reflect approved adjustments and ensure accurate revenue recognition using the percentage-of-completion method Operational Accounting Oversight (Jointly managed with Controller) Accounts Receivable: Assist in overseeing billing, collections, and cash application processes; monitor AR aging and support DSO reduction initiatives Accounts Payable: Support oversight of vendor invoice processing, payment cycles, vendor compliance, and AP workflow improvements Payroll: Support oversight of payroll processing, reconciliations, timekeeping coordination, and payroll tax compliance Financial Planning & Business Support (20%) Assist in forecasting processes by updating actuals and supporting key assumptions Provide cost and margin analysis across projects, departments, and service lines Analyze labor, subcontract, and overhead cost trends to support operational decision-making Leverage WIP data to support revenue forecasting, margin analysis, and project-level performance insights Support ad-hoc financial analysis requests from leadership and operations teams Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial visibility into performance and profitability Support financial planning initiatives as the company scales toward and beyond $140 million in annual revenue AI, Systems & Process Improvement (20%) Lead or support implementation of accounting and operational system modules including ERP modules, payroll systems, and AP automation Evaluate and leverage underutilized functionality within the Vista ERP system to enhance automation and improve data accuracy Assist in evaluating and implementing AI-driven tools and automation solutions within finance and accounting processes Identify opportunities to leverage data analytics and technology to improve decision-making and operational efficiency Stay current with emerging trends in AI and automation — including representing the company at selected conferences Support improvements in financial reporting systems, data integration, and internal control frameworks Participate in initiatives to revamp accounting policies, procedures, and workflow efficiency Collaborate with the Controller to evaluate and deploy generative AI tools — including AI-assisted reconciliation, intelligent document processing, and financial forecasting models — to streamline accounting workflows Partner with the Controller to develop and maintain an AI and automation roadmap for the finance function, tracking implementation progress, measuring ROI, and communicating outcomes to leadership Leadership, Audit & Compliance Assist in supervising accounting staff across AR, AP, payroll, and general accounting functions Provide guidance to team members on accounting procedures and internal controls Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance team Assist with preparation for external audits and financial reviews; coordinate supporting schedules and documentation Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and internal policies QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting Experience with ERP systems (Vista by Viewpoint preferred) Construction industry experience including WIP and job costing Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Demonstrated ability or openness to adopting technology, automation, and AI-driven tools within a finance or accounting function Preferred Qualifications CPA designation or actively pursuing (preferred) Hands‑on experience with generative AI tools, intelligent document processing, AI‑assisted reconciliation, or financial forecasting models within a finance or accounting environment Knowledge of percentage‑of‑completion revenue recognition Experience with AP automation or spend management platforms Familiarity with data analytics and BI reporting tools Prior experience in a hybrid accounting/finance role Track record of leading ERP implementations or upgrades COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Base Salary: $135,000 — $150,000 annually, commensurate with experience Bonus: Performance-based annual bonus ranging from 10% — 12% of base salary Retirement: 401(k) with Safe Harbor matching contribution Professional Development: Conference attendance and continuing education support Hybrid: Monday - Thursday in office and work from home on Fridays ABOUT INNOVATIVE CONSTRUCTION SOLUTIONS Innovative Construction Solutions (ICS) is a high-growth construction company with $110 million in annual revenue and projected to reach approximately $140 million in the current fiscal year.
