Health Support SpecialistThis is a para-professional healthcare support position responsible for serving clients in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) in accordance with State and Federal regulations. Services include eligibility determination, anthropometrics and hemoglobin testing, and issuance of program benefits. This position also schedules client appointments, assists clients with completion of nutrition questionnaires, and provides low risk second nutrition education contacts (newsletters). The incumbent is at risk for exposure to blood-borne and airborne pathogens and will be immunized in accordance with DOH Immunization Recommendations for Health Care Workers and is required to have an annual assessment for TB, which may include a tuberculin skin test. This employee is responsible for WIC data sets security. Continuously demonstrates the Department's ICARE values. This position reports to the Clerical Supervisor-SES. This position is for the Naples clinic, but will need to travel to Immokalee clinic as needed.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Competent keyboard skills required. Ability to learn FL-WiSE computer system, Department of Health software applications, and use calculator. Ability to maintain client confidentiality and interact professionally and effectively with clients, other members of the public and other DOH staff.Qualifications: Must have a High School diploma or an equivalent GED. Must have a valid Driver's License or the ability to obtain one prior to being hired. Completion of the Florida Nutrition Training Guide is required.
