Senior Disputes Data Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Disputes Data Engineer based in the United States.

This role is responsible for building and optimizing enterprise-scale data platforms that support analytics, reporting, business intelligence, and operational decision-making.
You will design data architectures, schemas, pipelines, and integration solutions from the ground up.
The position combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership across SQL, ETL/ELT, cloud platforms, APIs, and data modeling.
You will work with technologies such as Azure, AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, and Synapse Analytics.
The role also focuses on performance optimization, data governance, and reliable integration of internal and external data sources.
Your work will support financial-services operations, with exposure to disputes, chargebacks, fraud, and case-management data.

Accountabilities

• Architect, design, develop, deploy, and optimize scalable data solutions supporting analytics, reporting, business intelligence, and operational workloads.

• Build enterprise data structures, schemas, dimensional models, and pipelines from the ground up, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

• Design, develop, and support ETL/ELT frameworks and automated data-integration processes across multiple data sources.

• Develop and maintain API integrations and ingestion frameworks connecting databases, flat files, cloud platforms, third-party applications, and other systems.

• Implement cloud-native data solutions using technologies such as Azure, AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, or comparable platforms.

• Lead database performance-tuning initiatives, including indexing strategies, execution-plan analysis, workload optimization, and query performance improvements.

• Develop advanced SQL solutions using CTEs, window functions, complex joins, stored procedures, analytical functions, and relational modeling principles.

• Create and maintain analytical datasets, dashboards, and reporting solutions that help stakeholders identify trends and make informed decisions.

• Apply data modeling, metadata governance, and data pipeline best practices to promote consistent and trusted enterprise data.

• Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders while supporting service standards, business objectives, risk management, and information-security responsibilities.

• Identify and report operational and information-security risks within the scope of the role and contribute to appropriate mitigation efforts.

• Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive environment while demonstrating accountability, curiosity, integrity, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, a related technology field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

• At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in data engineering, data warehousing, analytics engineering, data integration, business intelligence, or a related discipline.

• Demonstrated experience designing enterprise-scale data architectures, ETL/ELT pipelines, data models, and cloud-based data platforms.

• At least 5 years of professional SQL development experience, including query development and modification, dataset creation, table maintenance, and large-scale data analysis.

• Experience creating and modifying macros, queries, and tables, with at least 2 years of relevant experience.

• Strong Power BI expertise, including DAX, Power Query, data manipulation, complex visualizations, dashboards, and calculations.

• Experience with additional business-intelligence platforms such as Qlik Sense or Tableau.

• Experience integrating data from APIs, databases, flat files, cloud environments, and third-party applications.

• Strong knowledge of data modeling, ETL/data pipelines, metadata governance, and enterprise data-management practices.

• Familiarity with disputes, chargebacks, fraud operations, and case-management systems is preferred.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to translate complex data requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams and functions.

• Strong communication skills and a service-oriented approach when working with internal and external stakeholders.

• Reliable attendance, sound judgment, and a commitment to managing risks associated with data, information security, and operational processes.

• The role requires regular computer-based work, including extended periods of sitting and use of hands, vision, and hearing; occasional lifting or moving of items weighing up to 25 pounds may be required.
