For Posting Purposes Only JOB TITLE: Family Perseverance Specialist DIVISION: Temporary Assistance for Needy Families DEPARTMENT: Family Perseverance REPORTS TO: Family Perseverance Manager FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt Salary: $24.84 per hour non-negotiable SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Family Perseverance Manager (“Manager”), will primarily focus on Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, “TANF” adult clients by creating a trusting environment that promotes a tradition of two-parent families by providing drug and alcohol free alternative recreational activities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Including but not limited to the following duties and responsibilities. Conduct, coordinate, and execute a variety of adult and family educational events to encourage healthy living choices and life-long skills Interview and meet with clients to discuss personal concerns, opportunities, and options to assist with TANF goals and objectives Provide pre-martial counseling to prospective couples, process and evaluate marriage incentive applications Develop, prepare, and present adult programs that include healthy familial habits, family bonding, parenting classes, and other related topics Direct the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records and files related to assigned activities Attend and conduct a variety of meetings as assigned

Develop and facilitate classes, events, activities, and workshops Apply cultural sensitivity to Native American programs Understand the needs of Native Families as a unit and separately based on TANF standards Maintain confidentiality Apply effective time management and meet critical timelines Follow directions and instructions effectively Interpret, apply, and adhere to related laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures Apply interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy Gather facts, analyze information, and draw sound conclusions Solve conflicts strategically Prepare clear, concise, and accurate records and reports Coordinate staff and other departments based on projects, as needed Operate a variety of office equipment, including a computer and software EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: An equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered. Two (2) years of related work experience will be equal to 30 college credits and vice versa. Associates in Arts Degree required in Sociology, Liberal Arts, Psychology, Human Services or related field and one (1) year of related work experience in social services programs, developing and building relationships with families and at least one (1) year of experience planning events or community activities for a variety of groups OR College credits of at least 30 credits in Sociology, Liberal Arts, Psychology, Human Services and two (2) years of related work experience and one (1) year of related experience in social services programs, developing and building relationships with families and at least one (1) year of experience planning events or community activities for a variety of groups OR High School Diplomaor equivalency certificaterequired and four (4) years of related experience and one (1) year of related work experience in social services programs, developing and building relationships with families and at least one (1) year of experience planning events or community activities for a variety of groups CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS: To perform and to continue to be qualified for this position, the requirements listed below must be met at a time of hire or may be obtained within a specific amount of time depending on the position requirements. Costs for required certifications, licenses, and registration are to be covered by the employee, unless offered by the Tribe. Requires driving in the course and scope of employment. Prior to and throughout employment, must maintain a valid California Class C driver’s license and insurability under the Tribe’s vehicle insurance policy Requires GSA defensive driving training every two (2) years Requires regular contact with or control over Indian children and is therefore subject to the background investigative process to comply with P.L. 101-630 Requires throughout employment maintaining a Mandated Reporting Certificate of Training Requires throughout employment maintaining a CPR/AED/First Aid Card or Certification Valid Food Handler’s Card issued by an authorized agency
