Project Manager II
Hydro-Thermal
Do you want to be part of a team where we work collaboratively to achieve our goals? Do you enjoy working in an innovative and growth focused environment? A company that invests in its equipment and its team members? Then Hydro-Thermal is the company for you!
At Hydro-Thermal Corporation success is attributed to people who are committed to technical competence, are responsive to customers' needs, are friendly, are willing to work hard, have complete integrity, and are active in our industry and in the local communities.
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead customer and internal projects from initial planning through successful completion. In this role, you’ll bring together Engineering, Applications Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Sales, Service, Finance, customers, and suppliers to keep projects moving forward and deliver results.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys owning projects, solving problems, working cross-functionally, and turning complex requirements into organized plans and successful outcomes.
What You’ll Do
As Project Manager II, you’ll be responsible for the overall execution and performance of your assigned projects, including:
- Own projects from start to finish — establish scope, deliverables, milestones, responsibilities, risks, and success criteria, and drive projects through completion.
- Build and manage project schedules across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, testing, customer activities, installation, and startup.
- Keep projects on track by identifying critical path activities, resource constraints, dependencies, and potential roadblocks and taking action before they impact the project.
- Manage project financial performance, including budgets, costs, gross margin, billing, cash flow, forecasts, and financial risks.
- Manage scope and change by evaluating the impact of changes to schedule, cost, resources, risk, and customer commitments.
- Lead cross-functional teams and meetings by creating alignment, establishing clear ownership, documenting decisions, and following through on action items.
- Serve as a key point of contact for customers, providing clear and timely project updates while balancing customer expectations with technical requirements, project scope, capacity, and business objectives.
- Identify and resolve problems by developing recovery plans, coordinating resources, and escalating significant technical, commercial, quality, schedule, or customer issues when necessary.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure materials, resources, engineering, manufacturing, testing, and other project requirements stay aligned.
- Maintain accurate project information and documentation within ERP, project management, quality, and other company systems.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues, evaluating root causes, capturing lessons learned, and improving project processes.
- Participate in project reviews and planning activities, providing accurate visibility into project status, risks, resources, financial performance, and interdependencies.
What Success Looks Like
The successful Project Manager will be someone who can take a complex project with multiple moving parts and turn it into clarity, accountability, and forward momentum.
You’re comfortable working across departments and with a variety of personalities, making sound decisions with incomplete information, identifying issues before they become problems, and keeping everyone aligned on what needs to happen next. You don’t need direct authority to lead—you know how to build strong relationships, influence others, and hold teams accountable to their commitments.
You also bring a strong business mindset and understand that successful project delivery requires balancing customer expectations, technical requirements, schedule, cost, quality, profitability, resources, and risk. You’re someone who can see the big picture while staying close enough to the details to keep a project moving toward a successful outcome.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, Operations, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Experience leading projects in an engineering, manufacturing, industrial equipment, capital equipment, or engineered-to-order environment.
- Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, critical path, resource management, risk, scope, change management, and stakeholder communication.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and managing projects with multiple workstreams and competing priorities.
- Ability to understand and communicate both technical and commercial information.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and follow-through skills.
- Experience with project financials, including budgets, costs, margins, billing, and forecasting.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems and structured business processes.
- Experience with ISO 9001, Stage-Gate, Lean, Critical Chain, Theory of Constraints, or similar methodologies is a plus.
- Experience with NetSuite or another ERP system
- PMP certification is highly preferred.
