Manager of Projects

The Manager of Projects will be responsible for resource planning, project delivery management, oversight, and all technical activities required to assure project scope accuracy and quality from conception to completion. This role requires a balance between technical and managerial business skills. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with customer-centric personality, strong communication skills, and MS Office proficiency. A preference will be provided to those that have been directly involved in developing technical support for similar products lines in the municipal or industrial market and have had applications engineering, project engineering, or project management experience with other closely related technologies. The Manager of Projects reports to the Director of Operations. This position will be based at PSI’s office in Milpitas, California. Essential Job Functions Responsible for ensuring projects are planned, monitored, and executed in accordance with approved scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives, proactively addressing risks and obstacles to maintain successful project delivery. Provide regular reporting and strategic insights to leadership on project status, department performance, operational trends, risks, and improvement opportunities. Review and interpret contract plans, schematics, and specifications to assess compatibility with proposed project scope, equipment designs, and operational requirements, identifying and resolving potential conflicts. Review and evaluate project deliverables to ensure accuracy, quality, completeness, and alignment with project objectives and client requirements. Mentor and provide regular performance feedback, regular performance appraisals and, on an as‑needed basis, performance improvement initiatives and disciplinary action. Drive operational excellence by establishing best practices, monitoring performance metrics, and implementing process improvements that support consistent, high‑quality project execution. Ensure effective communications and relationships between customer(s) and Project Management team are maintained. Partner closely with Applications Engineering, Service, Engineering, Operations, and other key stakeholders to coordinate resources, align priorities, and ensure successful project execution. Develop, implement, and maintain standardized project management methodologies, guidelines, templates, and tools to support effective project execution, meeting management, task tracking, communication, and overall team performance. Manage the day‑to‑day actions of the Project Management team to ensure high quality of project management execution, assisting in managing projects as needed with department workflow. Schedule and assign work to direct reporting staff based on their individual skills and workload. Lead the Project Management team in identifying, planning, and executing continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the quality of deliverables, streamline processes, and improve overall team efficiency and effectiveness. Lead and motivate diverse teams by leveraging individual strengths, addressing skill gaps, and adapting management approaches to maximize team performance and effectiveness. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in construction management, chemical or mechanical engineering, or closely related field from an accredited college or university. Ability to interpret construction drawings, including mechanical, process, and electrical. 5+ years’ experience managing the implementation and support of projects with some element of construction. 5+ years of department management experience for teams Proficiency in Word, Excel, MS Projects. Proficient in reviewing project specifications and plans. High level of attention to detail and accuracy. Preferred Qualifications Experience with OEM project management. PMP certification. PE license. Familiarity of the Percentage of Completion (PoC) method for recognizing revenue and expenses. Familiarity with 2D AutoCAD and ERP Software. Familiar with the municipal bid process. Experience in the municipal water and/or wastewater industries. Physical Demands Ability to sit for long periods of time; Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls; Must be able to quickly respond (with the hand, finger or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears; Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.; Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus; Ability to perform work under a variety of weather conditions; Working on construction sites with exposures to dangerous conditions; and Ability to look at computer monitors for much of the workday. Work Location Approximately 90% Office Setting. Approximately 10% Customer Jobsites - May be exposed to a variety of weather elements as well as areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, chemicals and industrial facilities. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions. Exposure to liquid and dry chemicals and substances associated with water and wastewater treatment, including permanganate, polymers, sodium hypochlorite, and liquid ammonium sulfate, among others. The base salary range for this position is between $150,000.00 and $175,000.00 per year. Benefits package and incentives are provided.
