Clinical Staff - Nursing

The Patient Care Technician, (PCT), is a specifically trained member of the unit based team. The Patient Care Technician supports the on-going delivery of care as identified by the multi-disciplinary Patient Management Team. The Patient Care Technician works under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse and performs tasks and duties which do not require a licensed practitioner, professional judgment or intervention.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Successful completion of PCT course within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities:

• Assists patients and visitors with information and issues.
• Notifies appropriate staff members of problems requiring prompt intervention.
• Obtains patient report, communicates with nursing staff regarding patient care/changes in condition.
• Informs nurses of patient requests or complaints.
• Documents patient care activities/tasks, including vital signs, activities of daily life (ADL), wave tests, and input and output (I&Os).
• Provides appropriate grooming/oral hygiene and comfort measures and assists patients with activities.
• Monitors and maintains adequate levels of supplies inside and outside of rooms.
• Prepares treatment rooms for examinations.
• Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
• Transports patients to other areas of the hospital as directed.
• Serves as a resource person to support department members in the performance of duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Information: Commensurate with education and experience
