The Mechanical Controls group is responsible for the design and production support of the systems that control the missile both before and after boost. This position is for an Engineer in the Post Boost Control System (PBCS) IPT that collaborates well in a team environment and has excellent communication skills. In this role, you will have numerous opportunities to represent the PBCS IPT with our Navy partner, LM leadership, and suppliers, with many opportunities for career development along the way. The PBCS IPT is responsible for the development, manufacture, and management of the PBCS, an attitude control and propulsive subsystem controlling the missile in a phase of the flight. This role is as a RSE delegate for the PBCS which provides a single technical point of contact for the entire PBCS and each product within the PBCS while providing continuity of product knowledge and source data. The RSE delegate develops the PBCS architecture and design while collaborating with component development teams and provides traceability of all products, owners, and required accountability. The RSE delegate is a knowledgeable, experienced specialist who acts as a technical advocate for the product throughout its lifecycle from requirements definition through mission operations. This delegate is responsible for proper performance and mission success of the PBCS throughout its lifecycle by resisting inappropriate compromise and risk, balancing technical performance against cost and schedule pressures while ensuring mission success. Basic Qualifications Experience working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and other technical personnel to create program plans and track the plans through execution. Experience working on engineering development programs. Experience successfully leading projects as a technical point of contact. Experience interacting with customers to deliver development hardware or systems. Experience with presentations to internal senior leaders such as Directors. Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance. Desired Skills Missile and/or aerospace related education or experience. Missile and/or space propulsion hardware experience. Experience with space propulsion hardware development. Experience with FBM processes and products. Experience with aerospace manufacturing. Experience in gas/fluid dynamics or energetics/propellants. Experience as principal engineer delegate or project lead. Risk and opportunity experience with an understanding of continuous improvement concepts. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated leadership and initiative.
