Team Supervisor The Team Supervisor plays a vital role in guiding and mentoring the crew to successfully meet production targets. This position is responsible for spotting safety hazards, ensuring compliance, and effectively prioritizing tasks on the job site under the direction of the General Foreperson. Key Responsibilities: Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures, providing coaching on safety practices and OSHA regulations. Assist in conducting safety training and assign crew tasks accordingly. Utilize herbicide application equipment for treating stumps and brush and maintain accurate application records. Obtain permission from property owners for tree trimming or herbicide application and communicate effectively regarding job site access and potential interruptions. Safely operate around hazardous equipment and near energized power lines. Trim, remove, and fell trees using appropriate climbing equipment and tools while ensuring safety protocols are followed. Conduct pre-work area inspections to identify any hazards. Assist with loading vehicles and equipment with manageable limbs and logs, not suitable for wood chipping. Address minor property damages and elevate significant issues to the General Foreperson. Maintain excellent customer relations through effective work completion and positive crew behavior. Keep comprehensive records and reports on crew production, including timesheets, work orders, and crew assignment distribution. Interpret maps for work orders related to tree trimming and chemical applications, supporting the General Foreperson in daily task assignments. Set up safety signage, barriers, and direct traffic to protect both crew members and the public. Manage tool and equipment staging and clean-up, ensuring a tidy work area. Inspect vehicles and equipment regularly to ensure operational safety and report maintenance needs. Respond to emergencies or disasters by coordinating the crew’s activities and safely addressing hazards while onsite. Support the company's safety culture and promote employee ownership. Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, maintaining a strong knowledge of all company policies. Maintain regular and prompt attendance at work and meetings. Other Responsibilities: Drive and operate assigned vehicles and equipment. Skills & Qualifications: Proven leadership abilities with effectiveness in stressful situations and capability to multitask. Knowledge of tree identification, growth habits, and techniques for trimming, pruning, and removal near energized conductors. Strong customer service and communication skills exhibiting patience and effective rapport with customers and crew members. Familiarity with national standards for tree care operations and proper pruning. Understanding of electrical circuits and ability to read circuit maps. Knowledge of OSHA standards relevant to electric power generation and distribution. Ability to swiftly learn and accurately follow instructions. Capable of communicating professionally, representing the company well. Ability to recognize and safeguard against poisonous plants. Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Willingness to work long hours during emergencies and respond to on-call situations. Trained in tree and bucket rescue techniques. Ability to operate and maintain necessary tools and equipment. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Education & Experience: A minimum of 3 years in tree trimming or clearing crews, or equivalent skills assessments. High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not mandatory. Valid First Aid and CPR certifications, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hiring. Preferred Qualifications: Valid driver’s or commercial driver's license and DOT medical card, as per requirements. Experience driving a vehicle with an attached chipper or similar equipment. Herbicide application certification as required by law. Stay updated with new equipment and industry best practices. Language Skills: English - Read, Write, Speak Spanish - Read, Write, Speak Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be necessary (up to 5%). Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks including bending, reaching, standing, lifting, and repetitive motions. Must be capable of lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds frequently. Visual acuity necessary for detailed work and equipment operation. Ability to enter and exit vehicles and equipment frequently throughout the day. Environmental Factors: Exposure to both indoor and outdoor environments including various weather conditions.
