The RN/Internal Agency is a temporary full‑time assignment working on stepdown and med/surg units within Methodist University Hospital. This is a 13‑week assignment with a pay rate of $60.00 per hour. The resource pool will serve as a backup staffing initiative, supplementing the Central Staffing pool to address staffing shortages outside of University Hospital on an as‑needed basis. You will be responsible for the nursing care of patients requiring specialized judgment and skill, drawing on knowledge of the natural, behavioral, and nursing sciences and humanities as the basis for application of the nursing process in wellness and illness care. Qualifications Associate’s Degree in Nursing. 1‑3 years of experience in an acute care environment, including at least two years of experience in an acute care hospital setting. Licenses and Certifications: Basic Life Support – American Heart Association; Registered Nurse (Tennessee) – Tennessee Board of Nursing; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support – American Heart Association; Pediatric Advanced Life Support – American Heart Association; Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification – American Heart Association. Other certifications may be required depending on the assigned nursing unit. Skills and Abilities Flexible and versatile in meeting changing staffing demands. Analytical skills necessary to assess complex patient conditions effectively and to develop comprehensive plans of care. Synthesizes multiple sources of information to assist in the resolution of human responses to complex problems. Skill and proficiency in applying highly technical principles, concepts and techniques, which are central to the nursing profession. Supervision The Registered Nurse directs and delegates all patient care activities on nursing units. Physical Demands The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination. The physical requirements of this position are medium work – exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently. The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform activities such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading. Frequent invasive and non‑invasive patient contact, exposure to patient body fluids and hazardous or poisonous materials, ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
