Produce & Dairy Buyer 

Location : Medley, FL 33178

Department : Purchasing 

Reports to: Purchasing Manager 

Our client is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Produce & Dairy Buyer to manage the purchase of fresh produce and dairy products. This important role is based at our USA facility and focuses on maintaining high product quality, following import rules, and keeping the right inventory levels to support our Cayman Islands market. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Create and manage purchase orders for fresh stock and regular reorders. 
• Ensure suppliers confirm all purchase orders. 
• Keep accurate inventory records and product information. 
• Handle product changes, including new items, discontinued products, and packaging updates. 
• Work weekends and holidays when needed to oversee container loading and ensure product quality. 
• Identify opportunities and share them with Cayman sales management. 
• Manage USDA inspections (such as Phytosanitary certificates). 
• Monitor inventory levels, shrinkage, and maintain strong service levels. 
• Stay up to date on market trends, competitor prices, and our own marketing plans. 
• Submit claims for damaged, incorrect, or excess items received.
• Share details of new products with the sales team (cost, UPC, case pack, availability, shelf life). 
• Match supplier invoices to purchase orders accurately. 
• Check daily stock levels and place orders with suppliers. 
• Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications & Skills 

• Experience in produce and dairy purchasing is preferred, but full USDA produce training will be provided. 
• Strong organizational and communication skills. 
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to oversee container loading and quality control. 
• Familiarity with USDA inspection processes and export documentation. 
• Comfortable using inventory management systems and Microsoft Office. 
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
