Corporate Import Compliance Manager
Summary:
Our client is a global automotive tier 1 supplier looking for a Corporate Import Compliance Manager . The Corporate Import Compliance Manager is responsible for the execution of MEAA’s ongoing Trade Compliance Program in compliance with import laws and regulations, specifically related to the Automotive Industry. This position serves as the in-house expert on all Import Compliance-related issues, working directly with government agencies, our customs brokers, and multiple internal teams, including Research & Development, Engineering, Sales, and Production Control.
The Corporate Import Compliance Manager must possess a bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field, along with experience in a comparable role within the automotive manufacturing industry.
Corporate Import Compliance Manager Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent experience plus 10+ years of import/export experience working for an import broker or a medium to large Automotive corporation
- Broad import/export knowledge, including a deep understanding of U.S. customs regulations, HTS classifications, import duties, free trade zones, ADD/CVD laws, FDA/FTC requirements, plus export controls and economic sanctions
- Advanced Excel and/or Access and data analysis skills
- Extensive experience with the ACE system
- U.S. Customs Broker License preferred
- Master’s degree a plus
Corporate Import Compliance Manager Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate MEAA’s FTZ locational operations.
- Create and update customs and regulatory policy, documentation and processes.
- Review and update customs documentation, including declarations and coding.
- File post summary corrections, protests and CAPE refunds as needed.
- Experienced with offset licensing, refunds and tariffs.
- Report and analyze import data working closely with IT, Sales and Procurement teams.
- Cultivate relations with government and customs entities to encourage communication.
- Lead, evaluate and make recommendations based on audits and identified risks.
- Manage and evaluate US Customs brokers and forwarders.
- Provide subject matter expertise and guidance on classification, valuation and COO decisions.
- Support and train staff on regulations, policies and best practices.
- Lead execution of key trade projects.
- Partner at the global level and develop strategic goals to improve compliance and execution.
- Proactively engage with the business partners to identify programs that enable MEAA’s growth.
- Manage MEAA’s Customs bonds and broker/forwarder power of attorney contracts.
- Complete all free-trade agreement documents, USMCA, AALA, COO and associated required documentation.
