A Human Health project (HHP) Healthcare Access Services Educator is responsible for providing information and education to individuals about available healthcare services, navigating the healthcare system, understanding insurance options, and promoting utilization of preventative care, ultimately aiming to improve access to healthcare for underserved populations by addressing knowledge gaps and barriers related to accessing services.

Key responsibilities include:

• Needs assessment:
• Conducting community assessments to identify healthcare access barriers and gaps in knowledge within specific demographics.
• Curriculum development:
• Creating educational materials and programs tailored to different populations, including presentations, workshops, pamphlets, and online resources.
• Patient education:
• Providing one-on-one counseling and group sessions to explain healthcare options, eligibility requirements, and enrollment processes.
• Community outreach:
• Collaborating with community organizations and healthcare providers to promote healthcare access initiatives and connect individuals with needed services.
• Health literacy promotion:
• Simplifying complex healthcare information to ensure understanding for diverse populations with varying literacy levels.
• Advocacy:
• Supporting policy changes and advocating for improved access to healthcare services for underserved communities.
