General Engineer

Overview Be the force behind the force. The mission is to empower the U.S. Air Force and Space Force to protect our nation’s interests in air, space, and cyberspace. The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is seeking a Full-Time General Engineer, NH-0801-04, to work for the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office (AFRCO) located in Washington, DC. Responsibilities Serve as the Senior Engineer and expert on U.S. advanced technology programs. Responsible for integration and acquisition of advanced systems to meet warfighters\' requirements. Develop program direction, assist in resource allocation, and monitor program execution. Ensure acquisition programs and their \"system of systems\" employment concept fulfill Air Force specific requirements. Qualifications/Requirements U.S. Citizenship Required. Position is designated special-sensitive and requires a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and/or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret w/SCI clearance. Ability to obtain and maintain approval to access the portfolio of Special Access Programs required to perform daily duties. Must handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise. Designation as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program; compliance with program requirements, including abstinence from illegal drug use and submission to urinalysis testing if requested. Education: A professional engineering degree at the bachelor\'s level from an ABET-accredited institution is required; advanced degrees are preferred. The employee must meet the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Mastery of advanced engineering principles for complex airborne/space systems and expert knowledge of the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process. Ability to design, evaluate, and synchronize enterprise-level system architectures to meet strategic mission requirements. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to senior executive leadership and Congressional staff, and to persuade/influence stakeholders on controversial issues. Ability to lead the resolution of complex, highly ambiguous technical problems that impact national-level acquisition programs. Ability to lead and manage multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams and organize large-scale project efforts across the DoD and industry. Ability to strategically manage and oversee high-priority acquisition projects, ensuring alignment with Air Force budget cycles and mission timelines. U.S. citizenship required.
