Staff Accountant

Vaco is partnering with a well-established organization in the Canton/Litchfield area that’s looking to add a Staff Accountant to their team.

The role:
This position will support day-to-day accounting operations and requires a solid understanding of core accounting functions, including the full purchase and sales cycle, accrual accounting, and how it ties into AR, AP, inventory, and cost of goods sold. It’s a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities are key.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing AP/AR, general ledger activity, and bank reconciliations
• Preparing financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow)
• Supporting month-end and year-end close processes
• Preparing journal entries and maintaining accurate financial records
• Handling account reconciliations, including intercompany and inventory
• Maintaining fixed assets
• Supporting audit and tax processes, including year-end workpapers
• Preparing and filing sales tax, fuel tax, and other regulatory filings
• Assisting with reporting and ad hoc projects

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or related experience)
• 3–5 years of general accounting experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation
• Experience with accounting systems (e.g., Great Plains, QuickBooks, JDE, Sage)
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
• High attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
