Neonatal Nurse Practitioner - Neonatology

Our Advanced Practice Providers collaborate with Neonatologists to provide comprehensive care for critically ill and convalescing neonates and their families. Providers participate in research, divisional quality improvement, and teaching. Team members have ample opportunities for personal growth while collaborating with other providers to improve patient outcomes. The Division includes four facilities: a 49‑bed Level 4 referral NICU (AAP designation) with expansion plans; a 72‑bed Level 3 delivery center; a 28‑bed Level 2 delivery center; and a 12‑bed Level 2 delivery center that will expand to a 60‑bed Level 3 NICU in a new mother‑baby tower. Subsidiary services include ECMO, HFOV, iNO, and whole‑body cooling. All subspecialties collaborate, and delivery center NICUs offer opportunities for high‑risk deliveries and procedures within scope of practice. Position Duties Conduct comprehensive health histories, physical assessments, and develop plans of care for infants, children, and young adults with acute and chronic conditions. Order and prescribe pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic interventions and perform therapeutic or corrective measures to treat illness and improve health status. Formulate family‑centered plans of care. Perform daily documentation as necessary and coordinate care with other team members. Collect and analyze data when required. Perform advanced procedures associated with credentialing process (DOP). Utilize the most up‑to‑date evidence‑based practice, and adjust plans according to family needs and outcomes. Serve as an educational resource to patients, families, nursing staff, provider teams, and other health‑care teams. Participate in professional development by maintaining required competencies, renewing certifications, and pursuing educational offerings; act as preceptor/mentor for new staff, residents, and medical students. Demonstrate commitment to patient safety by raising concerns through appropriate channels and advocating for changes in practice when necessary. Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as requested. Qualifications Education: Master’s or Doctorate degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited graduate school of nursing in a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program. Special Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, strong verbal communication, and basic computer skills. Additional Requirements: Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association or obtained by start date. Current NRP and PALS certification or obtained by start date. Current State of Arizona certification as a Nurse Practitioner or obtained by start date. National board certification to match area of education.
