Responsibilities

• Lead execution of credit approvals, preparing and leading discussions with Risk and escalation within 1LOD; underwriting and monitoring a portfolio of corporate clients from early origination discussions to the development of credit approval memos and senior approval forums.
• Undertake comprehensive review of financial analysis, due diligence, projection modeling, stress testing, risk ratings and other in‑depth analysis performed by junior resources.
• Provide underwriting sign‑off and recommendation for transactions requiring senior approval.
• Employ industry expertise to discuss relevant macro and micro issues within the coverage portfolio.
• Partner with Front Office on structuring new transactions and negotiating legal documentation.
• Build strong working relationships with key partners in Banking, Risk, audit/control functions, and regulators.
• Lead credit conversations with both internal and external auditors related to coverage.
• Manage direct reports, track workload and address staffing bottlenecks in cooperation with Underwriters.
• Lead recruiting and onboarding processes where required.
• Cultivate and guide analysts, fostering team strengths and addressing developmental areas.

Risk Management Experience

• Independently monitor a portfolio of clients including timely and accurate production of credit approval memos and communication of recommendations to Risk.
• Demonstrate superior risk assessment skills, including problem recognition, definition, and structuring of solutions to credit‑related issues.
• Show experience in global credit risk management standards.
• Understand capital markets products and complex financing and product structures.
• Provide strategic insights and sensitivity to macro and regulatory issues.
• Discuss and address issues associated with the allocation of risk assets and risk capital in partnership with banking and product organizations.

Client Relationships / Business Partnership

• Strong understanding of capital markets products and complex financing and product structures.
• Navigate organizational complexity and break silos.
• Build and sustain a network of strong partnerships with the business in all segments, geographies, and other risk functions.
• Provide well‑reasoned, balanced assessments of risk/return trade‑offs associated with transactions and client relationships.
• Proven track record of partnering with global peers on leveraging and implementation of best practices.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of risk or credit work experience in banking or financial institutions.
• Proven ability to effectively engage with regulators, internal control functions, Internal Audit, and Fundamental Credit Risk, as well as external audit.
• Strong ethics and integrity.
• Ability to see the ‘big picture’ in a complex environment.
• Capable of making decisions under pressure and short timelines.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
• Active listening skills.
• Bachelor’s or University degree (Master’s degree preferred).
