Medical Assistant – Multiple Locations

Job Type: Contract / Temporary
Pay Rate: $27.71/hour
Schedule: Part-Time, approximately 20 hours/week
Work Setting: On-site, patient-facing
Training: Initial 3–4 weeks of training/orientation
Schedule: Work schedules are created in 6-week blocks. Typical schedules include 2–3 weekdays and every other weekend , with some major holiday coverage required. Shifts may be 7–10 hours depending on clinic needs.

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Medical Assistant to support daily clinical operations in a fast-paced, patient-facing healthcare environment. The Medical Assistant will work closely with healthcare providers to support patient visits, maintain efficient clinic workflow, provide excellent patient service, and ensure accurate documentation.

The ideal candidate will have strong clinical and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask between administrative and clinical responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet patients and provide a welcoming and professional experience.
• Check patients in and assist with registration and administrative processes.
• Room patients and collect accurate patient histories and vital signs.
• Collect and prepare specimens for point-of-care and other simple tests.
• Assist healthcare providers during patient visits.
• Prepare, administer, and provide educational information related to vaccinations, as permitted by applicable requirements.
• Maintain patient privacy and protect confidential PHI/HIPAA information.
• Accurately enter and update patient information in electronic medical records.
• Answer telephone calls, take messages, and provide appropriate information to patients.
• Assist patients with questions regarding insurance, copayments, billing, and service charges.
• Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked clinical areas.
• Order and maintain adequate medical and office supplies.
• Perform point-of-care testing controls and maintain appropriate documentation.
• Support efficient patient flow and minimize unnecessary wait times.
• Communicate relevant patient or operational concerns to the healthcare provider.
• Follow established clinical, operational, safety, and quality procedures.
• Participate in community outreach and other activities supporting clinic operations.
• Perform other clinical and administrative duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program .
• Medical Assistant certification required.
• BLS certification required.
• Ability to confidently assist with vaccination services and patient education.
• Ability to accurately obtain patient history, vital signs, and specimens.
• Experience using electronic medical records or similar healthcare systems.
• Understanding of health insurance, copayments, billing, and common healthcare terminology.
• Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and time-management skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Ability to continuously move between the reception area, waiting area, and examination rooms.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
• Ability to read instructions and enter information accurately into computer systems.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.

Preferred Experience

• At least 1 year of Medical Assistant experience .
• Experience in Primary Care, Urgent Care, Emergency Room, or outpatient clinic settings.
• Experience with Epic EMR or similar electronic medical record systems .
• Experience with vaccinations and patient education.
• Experience with point-of-care testing and specimen collection.
• Experience working in a high-volume, patient-facing healthcare environment.

Schedule & Availability

• Approximately 20 hours per week .
• Initial 3–4 weeks of training/orientation required.
• After training, schedules are generally created in 6-week blocks .
• Typical schedule includes 2–3 weekdays and every other weekend .
• Shift length may range from 7–10 hours depending on clinic operating needs.
• Availability for some major holidays is required.
• Candidates must be able to commit to the required training and scheduled shifts.
