Director of EngineeringMillerbernd Manufacturing is hiring a Director of Engineering to join our Transportation & Infrastructure (T&I) team! The Director of Engineering (T&I) is responsible for directing goals and strategies for the professional engineering & product design teams. They will internally coordinate efforts for successful product development with customer care teams. Externally customer facing, especially with departments of transportation, electrical contractors, specifiers, and committees. Internally support supply chain and operations teams, contributing to scalable manufacturing methods.Job Title: Director of EngineeringLocation: Winsted, MNSalary Range: $140,518 – $173,265 / year (Exempt role) (In compliance with Minnesota Pay Transparency Law, this range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role. Actual pay may vary based on experience, education, and other factors.)Shift Schedule: 1st shift Monday – Friday Business HoursShift Differential: 1st shift – N/AKey Roles and Responsibilities as a Director of Engineering:LMADOT forward facingEnter new marketsAASHTO knowledgebaseIndustry expertiseAs a Director of Engineering, you will:Engrain yourself in the industry through committees and conferencesDevelop new, and maintain established, communication channels through which customers can readily contact the company in coordination with customer experience teamDisplay strong leadership, team building, project management and delegation skillsHire, develop, train, and build a high-performing team that effectively aligns with the established engineering standards and compliments the customer experience strategyDevelopment and standardization of effective design and calculation processesCollaborate with manufacturing engineering and drafting team for effective capturing of shop build standards and incorporate into designsProactively advocate internally for solutions and managing the customer escalation process regarding DOT standards and specificationsEnsure design team's effective communication with field representatives and distributors, in alignment with sales strategiesFacilitate individual and team growth through effective development plansRole Qualifications as a Director of Engineering:Bachelor's Degree in related technical fieldDemonstrated experience with business-to-business product development, and/or business content or specification development in a technical setting. Other combinations of formal training and experience may be considered.Knowledge and experience in CAD software, preferably Solid WorksExpert knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and OutlookStrategic mindset and foresight in understanding product development and project managementUse effective and appropriate written and verbal communication skills both internally and externally, including; leading meetings, team activities, giving presentations, and resolving issues.Problem analysis and problem-solving abilitiesStrong interpersonal, networking, and influencing skillsProfessional, detail oriented in their work, especially customer-facingConfident, driven, and dynamic, producing high-quality results personally and within the teamSelf-motivated and ability to work in a fast-paced environmentExceptional skills in math, including fractions, decimals, geometry, and algebraic conceptsCollaborative approach in team and individual settings, leading a high-performance teamData-driven mindset and an aptitude for technologyWork Environment (office):While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit/stand; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls.
