Procurement Specialist

Job Title: Buyer II Location: Merritt Island, FL (Onsite) Contract Duration: Through June 1, 2026 (with possibility of extension and/or conversion to perm) About the Role We are seeking an experienced Buyer II to join our operations and procurement team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong negotiation, supplier management, and purchasing experience, particularly in fast-paced and technically driven industries. You will play a key role in coordinating purchasing activities, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of materials critical to program success. Key Responsibilities Coordinate the purchasing of materials, services, and products to meet program requirements. Collaborate with program leads to identify long‑lead materials and support sourcing decisions. Prepare and process purchase orders using Coupa and Costpoint software. Manage supplier orders, monitor backlog, track order status, and adjust schedules as needed. Partner with logistics to ensure cost‑effective and timely deliveries. Ensure compliance with purchasing, storage, and transportation requirements. Monitor supplier performance and prepare reports for leadership review. Resolve discrepancies related to purchasing, delivery, receiving, invoices, and supplier payments. Expedite materials for shortage management and coordinate returns for discrepant materials. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field. 5+ years of tactical‑level purchasing experience. Aerospace/defense industry experience preferred. APICS, CPM, CPSM, or CSCP certification is a plus. Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience with ERP systems (Coupa, Costpoint preferred). Excellent organizational, communication, and negotiation skills. Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
