Description

American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry RN for a 13-week night shift assignment on a cardiovascular telemetry unit, requiring 2 years of specialty experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

• Work on a 54-bed cardiovascular telemetry unit split into three 18-bed wings
• May also care for CVT patients in the overflow unit
• Night shift schedule of three 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Floating may be requested based on facility needs
• May be scheduled to work if a holiday occurs during the assignment period
• EPIC EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active VA RN license or proof of compact license required in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS (preferred), and NIHSS through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Specialty experience within the last year required
• NIH Stroke Scale and stroke education required
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and cardiac drip titration
• Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization, pre/post cardiac surgery, post MI, and sheath removal
• Experience with peripheral line care/management preferred
• Experience with central line care/management, PICC line management, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions/PPE preferred
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and non-invasive airway management preferred
• Experience with chemotherapy administration preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a cardiovascular telemetry unit including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Manage heparin protocols and cardiac drips
• Travel experience is not required, so first-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Candidates cannot work both a travel assignment and a per diem contract with this health system simultaneously
• Prior permanent employees must have been separated from the facility for at least 6 months before being eligible for a travel assignment
• RTO requests should be kept to a minimum, ideally with no full calendar weeks off and no more than 7 total days, and must be submitted with the initial application
