About the Role
The Company is a nonprofit research organization dedicated to advancing climate action through rigorous, independent, and openly accessible work. They are seeking an Executive Director to lead the organization in defining and evolving its mission within the context of a rapidly changing strategic and funding landscape. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic vision, organizational leadership, and fundraising, and must be committed to the values of open science, integrity, and humility. Key responsibilities for the Executive Director include articulating a clear vision for the organization's mission, translating that vision into actionable strategies, and regularly evaluating the impact of the work. The role also involves leading a high-performing interdisciplinary team, fostering a collaborative culture, and partnering with the Board to strengthen governance. The ideal candidate will have a background in strategic leadership, experience in guiding research or technical teams, and a proven track record in fundraising. They should be adept at navigating the intersection of science, policy, and technology, and be able to translate complex scientific work into compelling narratives. The ideal candidate for the Executive Director position at the company will be a values-driven leader with a deep commitment to open science and transparency. They should have exceptional interpersonal skills, high emotional intelligence, and a collaborative leadership style that empowers teams. Experience in climate, environmental work, public interest technology, or policy is essential, as is the ability to bring new ideas and expertise to the organization. The role requires a proactive, responsive individual with clear communication skills, who can inspire and engage a variety of stakeholders. The Executive Director will be expected to lead the organization through a period of strategic evolution, balancing the excellence of existing work with the development of new ideas, partnerships, and programs.
