Job Description

Coda Search has partnered with a private equity firm with offices in New York, New York, which is looking to bring on an Assistant Controller. This expanding organization manages more than $5 billion in assets and invests exclusively in emerging markets.

About the Role

The Assistant Controller will manage a group of funds and will be responsible for producing quarterly financial statements, leading the monthly close, providing deal support, and collaborating closely with the external administrator.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for the firm’s funds and investments.
\n
• Supervise and evaluate the work of the external administrator, resolving any variances.
\n
• Prepare and evaluate deal closings, and contribute to cash flow forecasting and distributions.
\n
• Direct the portfolio valuation process, including tracking fair value adjustments and confirming adherence to valuation policies.
\n
• Manage the year-end audit and coordinate with external auditors to confirm compliance with reporting standards.
\n
• Collaborate with the investment team and deliver transaction support.
\n
• Partner with internal stakeholders to strengthen process efficiency, develop automated reporting, and promote ongoing improvement initiatives.

• Track and assess fund performance metrics, offering insights and recommendations that shape business strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
\n
• Minimum of four years of experience, ideally within private equity
\n
• Background in public accounting and active CPA licensure are advantageous
\n
• Track record of improving processes and creating efficiencies
\n
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables
\n
